Abstract:

Harvard University began to transform in 2012 to adapt to the new digital era. The branch libraries have been divided into 5 affinity groups. Access Services, Acquisition, Cataloguing and Digitize Services are centralized to Shared services. But new problems emerged after the transformation and the branch libraries have not been running well under this model. In 2013,Harvard appointed a new vice president for library to transform again. Duplicated support services have been combined. 8 Departments are proposed as direct reporting departments. A new leadership model will be formed, that is, LLT is responsible for strategy and policy approval, cabinet is responsible for policy implementation and committees work on policy development. Now the transformation is still underway.
