While reading promotion activities are sweeping over China, insufficient theoretical foundation of reading promotion is holding back their further development. The author deduces the theoretical basis centered on reading freedom from freedom theories and presents the 2B2C Principle based on materials from the related articles, policy documents, reports on website and reading activities records of Sun Yat-sen University. The 2B2C principle aims to provide a series of theoretical guideline for librarians during the reading promotion, which consists of board principle, beacon principle, chain principle, curtain principle and a structured hierarchy framework.
