Abstract:

Since 2007, Open-platform products have gradually occupied the Internet market. Lots of information resource services mash up with each other through OpenAPI to form gradually the Internet information resource ecosystem consisting of Search Engines, Book Review Website, Online Bookstore, Public Library Online and SNS. Libraries have to integrate services into the Internet ecosystem to avoid being separated from the Internet. The personalized library BOOK+ project developed by Nanjing University Library focuses on users’ needs by not only conducting user interviews and questionnaire survey throughout the project designing, but also collecting user feedback after the completion of the project. This paper presents the creative origin, implementation process, three rounds of user demand analysis, system architecture, interface design, innovative functions and social benefits of the BOOK+ project in details. We hope to gather experiences through the process of project implementation, in order to prepare for the thorough transformation of library services.
